Unearthing

This novel is about Günter Muller and his wife Johanna getting a second chance at life. After having lost everything, they move to the West Coast. Despite facing plenty of challenges, they push on. Eventually, their luck begins to turn. But one day, the most unexpected thing happens. It is Günter having a change of heart. Suddenly, he walks away from everything even the marriage. Instead of communicating with Johanna, he packs up in a hurry and returns to the East Coast. He becomes obsessed with fixing his past. He starts by confronting the cunning financial advisor who ruined their life. Then he tracks down the fertility doctor involved in Johanna’s miscarriage. Yet he’s not finished. His long-repressed memories resurface next. These are the unresolved issues from his upbringing. He knows he cannot keep running from them anymore. He knows he must return to Europe and find his father. It’s time to make peace with him at last. However, as he rushes to his deathbed, he stumbles into a deeper mystery.
